Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson endorsed Democratic nominee Joe Biden on Sunday morning, calling the November election “critical.”

“I’ve got friends in all parties, but the one thing we can always agree on is the conversation and the dialogue, and where that conversation lands is always the most critical part,” Johnson said in a video he tweeted Sunday.

So what? A celebrity endorsement. Is this a big deal? Actually, yes. It’s a YUGE deal. If you missed the news, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. You can see the endorsement and interview below.

So why is this a big deal? It isn’t just because he’s a celebrity. It’s because of his political views. Dwayne Johnson is not a Democrat. He’s an independent who recognizes failed leadership when he sees it, as have millions of other Americans.

Dwane Johnson posted a video calling out Donald Trump for his failed leadership during the pandemic.

Dwayne Johnson was NOT a Hilliary fan. It’s painfully obvious in this 2016 video, but don’t blame him. He wasn’t alone. Hilliary Clinton’s nomination was one of the most harmful mistakes the Democrats could ever have made. Her reputation was that of a power-hungry, self-serving, unkind politician. People were fed up with her before she even began running. They looked elsewhere for something “anything” different. We got Trump.

Dwayne Johnson’s wakeup call parallels that of many Americans. Fair or unfair, many of us [American voters] despised Hilliary Clinton. The DNC must learn that lesson. Never nominate a candidate who is universally hated. Americans should also learn a lesson: Vote for a person who will expand democracy, listen to experts, even if we don’t like that person. We have to stay away from the scourge of populism, as this man from Ohio explains.

Unfortunately, the DNC and the left failed when they pushed for Hilliary Clinton to run against Donald Trump. In doing so, they alienated many Progressives, and a lot of Progressives still struggle to justify voting for Biden. They see Biden as too moderate. However, Biden isn’t loathed as Clinton was, and Dwayne Johnson’s “wakeup call” echos the mindset of millions of Americans. We see proof of that when we look at videos produced by The Lincoln Project and RVAT (Republican Voters Against Trump).

The Democrats still have to do right by Progressives, but the only Party that remotely stands for what a representative democracy should be is the Democratic Party. When this is all over, both the Democratic Party and Republican Party of 2021 will look different than they did just five years ago. The Republican Party lost its integrity and its soul. The Democratic Party seems to be earning theirs back.

I am politically left by U.S. standards, although I'd be considered moderate in most European Countries. I believe in universal healthcare, a UBI, equal opportunity to education, and expanded democracy. I think the free market works best for most industries. However, I am convinced that some industries, such as healthcare and education, do not respond to market forces and should be publically funded. Additionally, I believe industries that damage and destroy the environment should be regulated. My views are my own, and they do not necessarily represent what other people on the left believe. In that sense, LeftViewpoint is "a" left viewpoint, not "the" left viewpoint.
